Participant Details Announced for 2019 Columbia Food and Wine Festival

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 10, 2019) - The Five Points Association (FPA) and Free Times are pleased to announce the return of the Columbia Food and Wine Festival (CFWF) for April 26 - 28, 2019. After a sold-out inaugural year that featured 42 Midlands restaurants serving 15,000 small bites, 48 wines, 14 breweries, and 10 chef and beverage demonstrations, the event will return for an even larger, multi-day celebration in its second year. The 2019 festival will highlight Columbia's hospitality scene over three days, including satellite events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, in addition to the main event on Sunday.

WHAT: Columbia Food and Wine Festival - Main Event Details

WHEN: Sunday, April 28, 2019 I 1pm - 4pm

LOCATION: Saluda Avenue, Five Points, SC

COST: Tickets are currently for sale online, with three tiers of admission available.


VIP: "Fly Local Lounge", presented by Columbia Metropolitan Airport
Noon - 4pm I $100 (advanced ticket sales only) I Limited quantities available
VIP festival holders can expect to enjoy exlusive access with enhanced offerings in the "Fly Local Lounge", located in Saluda's (751 Saluda Avenue). Throughout the event, VIPs may retreat to private Saluda’s to sample additional food and cocktail offerings, enjoy the wrap around porch overlooking the festival's footprint, and sign up to win free travel, all compliments of the Columbia Metropolitian Airport.


SNEAK PEEK:
Noon - 4pm I $85 (advanced ticket sales only) I Limited quantities available
Sneak Peek ticket holders get all the perks of general admission, but with an extra private hour (starting at noon) to grant them exclusive and semi-private access. These attendees can arrive at noon - one hour before general admission may arrive (1pm).

1pm - 4pm I $65 (available online) I Limited quantities available
General admission ticket holders have access to samplings from over 40 restaurants, 40 wines and 11 local and regional breweries. Additionally, festival patrons can submerge themselves in Columbia’s culture and learn more about its hospitality scene by attending interactive chef demonstrations, participating in educational wine seminars, engaging local farmers, and more throughout the day.

All levels of admission include a complimentary tasting glass and unlimited access to over 40 wines and 11 local and regional breweries.

The festival will include interactive chef demonstrations, wine seminars, and liquor samplings throughout the day.

Chef Demonstrations:
Starting at 1:15 pm, attendees can watch up to six demonstrations on the Art of Real Estate stage, located in front of Starbucks on Saluda Avenue.

  • 1:45 pm - 2:00 pm: Chef Wes Fulmer, Motor Supply Co. Bistro

Wine Seminars:
Attendees can enjoy up to six seminars throughout the day by local wine experts Erlinda Doherty and Mike "Wine Guy" Simmons at the Five Points fountain. A complete list of times and topics are coming soon!

Cocktail Speakeasy:
Presented by Beam Suntory and curated by Head Barman Josh Streetman of Motor Supply Co. Bisto.
Located in The White Mule (711 Saluda Avenue), attendees can sample a variety of speciality cocktails made from Columbia's most unique and innovative bartenders, while enjoying the musical stylings of the Soda City Brass Band.

Join us at Saluda’s restaurant on Friday, April 26th at 7PM, for the official kick-off dinner to the inaugural Columbia Food and Wine Festival. A city-wide collaboration, this intimate dinner will feature five courses, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails by Saluda’s, Goat’s, Cola’s, Hendrix, and Ally & Eloise Bakeshop. Dinner will include a limited beer selection, wines from Italics Winegrowers, and a specialty cocktail to complement the meal. Limited tickets available.

INTERNATIONAL FOOD CORRIDOR AT SODA CITY MARKET

Join us on Main Street for an expanded Soda City Market and taste authentic international delights from appetizers to entrees to pastries on Saturday, April 27th at 9AM. Step in to this microcosm of Columbia’s thriving diversity with more than 10 local Columbia food vendors.. Maps will be provided to attendees and participating partners will be noted with designated CFWF signage. You can taste recipes from all around the world right here in downtown Columbia! Participating vendors will be K&K Gourmet Sweets, LLC, The Belgian Waffle Truck, Brown Sistaz Island Vibz, La Cochinita Mexican BBQ, I Love Paella, Sabor Tropical – “A Taste of Puerto Rico”, Mary’s Arepas, and Paella South.

BRUNCH AT BULLSTREET

Join us for a marquee satellite event Saturday morning, April 27th at 11AM; a multi-course brunch with cocktail to course pairings at the urban rooftop of the First Base Building overlooking Segra Park [f.k.a. Spirit Communications Park]. Enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and a bottomless punch provided by Spencer Robinson, Head Bartender of The War Mouth, along with a tasty brunch spread crafted by Bull Street resident Chef/Owner Scott Hall of Bone-In BBQ and Chef David Grillo of Cantina 76.

BREWS & VIEWS: ROOFTOP CRAFT BEER COLLABORATION

Stop by River Rat Brewery’s rooftop bar for a craft beer collaboration on Saturday, April 27th at 2PM. Brewers from River Rat Brewery, Cottontown Brew Lab, Swamp Cabbage Brewery, Bierkeller Columbia and Craft and Draft participated in a collaborative brew to produce Tangerine Dreams, the official craft beer of the Columbia Food and Wine Festival. Be the first to try it at Brews & Views! Bottomless craft beer and hors d'oeuvres by River Rat are included in the ticket price.

SIPS AND SEMINAR IN THE PASTOR’S STUDY

Join Main Street’s boutique wine parlour, Lula Drake for an educational wine tasting session at Lula’s private event space, The Pastor’s Study. On Saturday, April 27th at 4PM, Lula Drake owner and Sommelier Tim Gardner will offer a series of rare wine tastings not available on Lula Drake’s wine list. Tim will provide insights on each wine and their respective wineries. Light hors d’oeuvres are included.

HEIRLOOM BREEDS + SEEDS DINNER

Motor Supply Company Bistro and Spotted Salamander Cafe & Catering, will team up on a thoughtfully curated four-course meal, highlighting heirloom and sustainable ingredients on Saturday, April 27th at 6:30PM located at the Seibels House and Garden, owned and operated by Historic Columbia. Motor Supply's head barman, Josh Streetman will delight guests with a house-made cocktail along with passed hors d'oeuvres. Guests will then move to the outdoor garden space for a family-style dinner featuring four dual-courses prepared by chefs Wes Fulmer of Motor Supply and Jessica Shillato of Spotted Salamander. With wine pairings at each course and live music under the stars, this will be a captivating evening of culinary collaboration.
