Five After Five Spring 2010

MUSIC SAVES LIVES AND AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE

Columbia's Five Points Association has teamed up with the Red Cross and Music Saves Lives to host a blood drive on Friday, June 11th at the Five Points Fountain from 11AM to 4PM, aboard a Red Cross bloodmobile. The mission of the Association is to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation within the community. The drive will be offering a number of great incentives to give blood including a chance to win one of three fabulous cruises, courtesy of the Red Cross's "Save a Life & Sail the Seas" promotio. In addition, ALL donors will receive a VIP pass to the Vans Warped Tour, who have partnered with Music Saves Lives to help support blood donation. Free snacks and goody bags will be available for all donors thanks to many generous Five Points restaurants as well as special discounts and offers from Five Points retailers.
Blood can be donated safely every 56 days. Most healthy, eligible donors are 17 years of age and older (16 with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds.

FIVE POINTS CARNIVAL OF SAVINGS

On Saturday July 17, 2010 from 11am - 3pm the Five Points Association is hosting a unique summer event for people of all ages to celebrate the daytime life of Five Points. Although designed specifically to attract families with children, the event is a glorified sidewalk sale that reaches out to all those who love shopping in Five Points. The intention is to provide free fun while helping to boost summer sales for the independent retail merchants. From enjoyable activities on the streets to carnival games inside merchants' stores, the day will be full of summer joy.

2ND ANNUAL BAR STOOL CLASSIC

Do you have what it takes to be a Bar Stool Classic Champion? Ever wanted to putt-putt your way through Five Points bars and restuarants? Here's your chance! On Thursday, September 9th the Babcock Center Foundation along with the Five Points Association will be hosting the inagural Bar Stool Classic. Online Pre-Registration will begin on August 14th at 5:00pm and will cost $10. Pre-registration will end at 5:00pm on September 3rd. Registration at the fountain will start at 4:00pm the day of the event and will cost $15. Those who have pre-registered will need to pick up their packets at the fountain starting at 4:00pm as well. Registration packets will include a tour t-shirt, score/tour card with map, pencil, souvenir golf ball and After Party invitation. Each hole will have prizes for putting, volunteers to make sure no one cheats! and great beer specials! First place prize is $500 There will also be second and third place prizes Worried about lines to putt? Don't worry - we will have a sign in sheet at each hole so you can jot down your name and relax with a beer or snack until it's your turn to putt! The After Party will be at Group Therpy on their newly renovated deck and you must present your After Party invitation to get to the back deck.. The After Party will have free food and a cash bar. Sponsor Michelob Ultra also has some fun games planned for the after party. All proceeds will go to the Babcock Center Foundation for their dedication to adults with disabilities in the community. Bars on the Putt Putt Tour: Bey's Delaney's Local's Red Hot Tomatoes Sharky's Too Deck The Saloon The Thirsty Parrot Village Idiot Pizza Yesterday's Some rules: In order to be eligible for prizes, each participant must putt at all 9 holes. Please do not cheat, each hole will have a volunteer to keep track of your score. Your After Party invitation must be presented to putt the 9th hole and have access to the After Party. Please designate a driver if you plan on drinking during the tournament. Only players 21 and over canregister and play in the tournament.

Each year, when the weather gets cold and the trees start to turn, the folks in the Five Points community gear up for one of the spiciest events in town! The famed Group Therapy's Chili Cook Off 2010 will be marking the 23rd year of the event and it just gets better each year. Mark your calendars for one of Five Points' greatest events!
