ST. PAT'S BATTLE OF THE BANDS
March 13, 2009Who will be the final contender for a spot on the Time
Warner Cable/Free Times stage on March 14 during the 27th Annual St. Pat’s in Five Points Festival? Come find out for yourself and take part in the fun and friendly competition, Battle of the Bands, on March 13 from 5 to 10 p.m. on Santee Ave. This year’s competing local bands are: This Machine is Me, Deleveled, The Black Bottom Biscuits, Shallow Palace, Mud Fish and The Reason You’re Listening. The band that strums, drums and wails the best will receive the ultimate opportunity to perform in front of thousands at the St. Pat’s in Five Points Festival. They will also receive a free recording session at the Jam Room and musical equipment provided by Front End
Audio.
Making their first appearance in Five Points, Riot Wrestling
Entertainment will be battling for a different kind of title. This independent Pro Wrestling organization
will be laying the smack down with an unbridled intensity during this year’s
Battle of the Bands. These crazy matches

Columbia’s Five Points Association has teamed up with the
Red Cross and Music Saves Lives to host a blood drive on Wednesday, June 17th at the Five Points Fountain from 11AM to 4PM, aboard a Red Cross bloodmobile. The mission of the Association is to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation within the community. The drive will be offering a number of great incentives to give blood including a chance to win one of three fabulous cruises, courtesy of the Red Cross's "Save a Life & Sail the Seas" promotion. In addition, ALL donors will receive a VIP pass to the Vans Warped Tour, who have partnered with Music Saves Lives to help support blood donation. Free snacks and goody bags will be available for all donors thanks to many generous Five Points restaurants as well as special discounts and offers from Five Points retailers.
Blood can be donated safely every 56 days. Most healthy, eligible donors are 17
years of age and older (16 with parental consent) and weigh at least 110
pounds.

July 18, 2009Your favorite Harden Street merchants in Five Points have been cooking up a great opportunity for shopping and fun this summer! On Saturday July 18, the 600 block of Harden Street will play host to the "2nd Annual Harden Street Carnival of Savings", an event designed to entertain guests and offer great discounts and specials. Stores along the block will have carnival-themed games inside their businesses for patrons to play and win sale prices, gift certificates and more. From balloon artists, caricature drawings and snowcones, the day is sure to deliver some summer fun to the community!

3rd Annual Five Points School Supply Drive – Where Giving is RewardingOn Friday, August 7, 2009, the Five Points Association will once again play host to the Annual Five Points School Supply Drive to benefit Rosewood Elementary, Hand Middle School and the Alston Wilkes Society. From 4 – 8pm, patrons are encouraged to bring school supplies of all kinds to the fountain and in return will receive fantastic rewards from the merchants in the area. Five Points will be alive with live Jazz music and great family activities during the event.

• Patrons donating school supplies to help the community and wearing “I donated” stickers
• Balloonopolis, masters of balloon twisting, creating works of balloon art
• Children getting their faces painted
• Caricature Artist creating free drawings for customers
